Learning & Habit Objectives

Learning: I will add integers and interpret absolute value using the number line

Habit: I will draw the number line and use it to solve problems

5

Success Criteria

  • I know my vocabulary

  • I can add integers on the number line

  • I can work with the absolute value of integers

6

Notebook: Absolute Value

The absolute value of a number is its distance to zero on the number line.

|8| = 8 and |-8| = 8 because both 8 and -8 are 8 units to zero.

We use absolute value to represent distances, which are always positive numbers.
