In this lesson you will get practice in telling time. You will also learn how to say time past the hour.

Es ...

• used for saying "it is.." for 1 o'clock - "...la una"

• used for it is midday - ".....mediodia"

• used for midnight - "...medianoche"

Son las ....

• used for any time between 2 - 12

• e.g. it is 5 o'clock - "son las cinco"

• It is 11 o'clock - "son las once"

For time past the hour, that is up to half past, we use "y" - "and" + the number
