THE LINK BETWEEN THE ELPS and TELPAS

Each CIS teacher is required to implement the ELPS in lesson planning
Instructional tasks/activities must implement a multitude of learning interactions promoting the development of each of the language domains

What the ELPS do...
Unlike social language acquisition (BICS), the ELPS focus on the skills and practice necessary to use CONTENT/ACADEMIC language effectively (CALP).
Integrating the ELPS helps your ELs by scaffolding activities and allowing ELs the opportunity to PRACTICE within an academic setting.
The goal is to get the academic language to "stick."
