Homework. Some people love it and some people dread it. As a parent and a retired teacher, I strongly believe that students should not have homework.
To begin with, homework often leads to family arguments. I remember when my two sons would get off the bus in elementary school and I’d ask them to start their homework right away. After much complaining, they would begin. If they looked stuck, I would lean over their shoulder and try to help them. Instead of accepting my help, they would argue with me saying I wasn't doing it the right way.
Lastly, it seems like kids are having MORE homework, which leaves less time for activities of their choice. After school, I believe students should be able to spend time with their family, play outside, or attend sporting events. With 1-2 hours of homework per night, students have less of a chance of finding a passion outside of school.
Homework has been around for what feels like the beginning of time. However, it’s time to change the way homework is given.
What is the author's point of view?
Homework is for everyone
Homework should be given to students
Homework should not be given to students
Homework is to help teachers make their lessons

What's your perspective?
Do you agree or disagree with the author? Should students not have homework?
Either way you have to be able to explain yourself with evidence!!!

Your Perspective
Your opinion
Use evidence from the text or your own experience
Use Yes MA'AM
Example: I disagree with the author. Students should have homework. In the text, the author states that students will not have enough time for after school activities. Many adults have to bring work home and balance their family life too. Homework prepares students for the future when they will have more responsibility as an adult.
