List 3 to 5 goals that you would like to achieve.

Directions:
Read the vignette. Identify consequences if the character will succeed or fail. DECIDE what that characters should do. Justify or explain your choices.

Kathie had to buy a new washing machine. Kathie asked Brooke to hook it up. But Brooke isn't sure she should.
Brooke hooked up her own machine last summer. But her washer is
in the basement. Kathie's pipes are old and hard to reach. Her washing machine is in the kitchen. Brooke's afraid she could flood Kathie's kitchen and living room.
Brooke wants to help Kathie. She's pretty sure she knows how to hook up the washing machine. But Brooke doesn't want to flood Kathie's kitchen.

Carlos lives in a group home. Six other people who have handicaps also live there. Carlos did a lot of work to help set up the home and get it started. He helped find the furniture for the home and planted a lawn. He did both things well.
Now another group wants to set up a home. They have asked Carlos to help. They want him to do more than find furniture and fix the yard. They have asked Carlos to be in charge of the whole thing. Carlos is proud to be asked. But he is worried.

Carlos hates to speak to large groups. He also finds reading and writing hard. Carlos knows he would have to speak to reporters and to some people who don’t like group homes. Also, Carlos
would have to read and write letters and reports.
Carlos cares about the new home. But he’s afraid he couldn’t do
a good job.

Bill is an apprentice mechanic. He works at Mike’s Car Repair
Shop. Bill has learned fast. Now Mike asks Bill to fix every VW that comes into the shop. Bill is proud of his work.
Across the street is another shop—Sport Autos. Sport Autos
fixes fancy cars. Some of the work at Sport Autos is very hard.
The owner of Sport Autos heard about Bill. He offered Bill a job
and more pay. Later on he would get a raise. Bill is proud of this
offer—but worried.

He knows the cars that Sport Autos fixes are classy. They are
also harder to fix. Bill wonders if he could learn fast enough.
Also, Sport Autos wants perfect work. Sport Autos asks the mechanics to work fast. Bill doesn’t work as well when he’s hurried.
Bill also worries about working with the guys at Sport Autos. He
likes the guys at Mike’s because they help each other out. Bill
doesn’t know the Sport Autos guys.
