Why review question form?
Frequent problems!
3
Can you fix the problem?
INCORRECT 😕: Why China couldn't stop Covid 19 when it started?
Problem: WORD ORDER (auxiliary does before subject)
CORRECT 😃: Why couldn't China stop Covid 19 when it started?
4
A useful trick:
Remember Q A S V O
5
Questions form follows this order: QASVO
Question Word (Q) +
Auxiliary -Does, to be, did, will...-(A) +
Subject (S) +
Verb (V) +
Object (comme le complément de phrase)
6
Subject-verb agreement is expressed on the auxiliary rather than the main verb
TAKE NOTE:
It's not "Do she GOES to school?" 😖
It's "DOES she go to school?" 😁
7
Tense is also expressed on the auxiliary rather than on the main verb
SIMPLE PAST:
It's not "Does she WENT to school?" 😖
It's "DID she go to school?" 😁
The main verb is invariable here (i.e. does not change).
8
Another example to show tense in questions
SIMPLE FUTURE:
It's not "Does she WILL GO to school?" 😖
It's "WILL she go to school?" 😁
The main verb is invariable here (i.e. does not change).
9
Another example to show tense in questions
PRESENT PERFECT:
It's not "HAS she WENT to school? 😵
It's "HAS she GONE to school?" 😁
The main verb = past participle in perfect tenses
Note: Agreement is also expressed on the auxiliary: SHE HAS gone...
