OBJECTIVE:

Learn structure and use of Passive Voice.

ACTIVE VOICE

Emphasise on the SUBJECT (person or thing) that is doing the action.

ACTIVE VOICE STRUCTURE

• Who does + action + Who recieves

  EXAMPLES

• A thief stole my wallet.

• Homer painted the house

• Stephen king wrote "It"

• Monkeys adore bananas;

• The cashier counted the money;

• The dog chased the squirrel;

• SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT.

PASSIVE VOICE

We do it because We want to place emphasis on the object of an action.

PASSIVE VOICE STRUCTURE

• Who recieves + to be + verb participle +by+ Who does

• EXAMPLES

• My wallet was stolen by a thief.

• The house was painted by Homer.

• "It" was written by Stephen King.

Columbus discovered America.
