Looking at Endings

• You should be able to look at a verb conjugation and know its infinitive just by looking at the ending.

• Ex: J'attends.

• With an "s" ending in the "JE" form, I know it's an RE verb.

• Drop the "s" and add back the "RE"

• Attendre = to wait for

Looking at Endings, Exceptions

• For the Nous, Vous, and Ils / Elles forms of ER and RE verbs, it will be impossible to know just by looking at the endings if the infinitive ends in ER or RE

• Ex: Nous vendons.

• Both ER and RE verbs end in "ONS" in the nous form

• Nous vender OR Nous vendre (You'll have to see which one you recognize!)

• Vendre.
