• A decimal point is a dot used to separate ones and tenths in a number. 

• 0.1 is a decimal with zero ones and one tenth.

How are fractions and decimals related?

• One tenth is one of 10 equal parts of a whole. One tenth written as a fraction is 1/10. One tenth written as a decimal is 0.1.

• One hundredth is one of 100 equal parts of a whole. One hundredth written as a fraction is 1/100. One hundredth written as a decimal is 0.01.

How can you write a fraction as decimal?

• To write a fraction with a denominator of 10 or 100 as a decimal, record the tenths and then the hundredths after the decimal point.
