Mid-West Region summarized

  • Geography changes as you move East to West.

  • This region is located West of the Northeastern Region and slightly Northwest of the Southeastern Region. This region is found almost directly in the middle of the United States.

  • The Midwest, also called Middle West or the North Central States region, northern and central United States, lying midway between the Appalachians and the Rocky Mountains and north of the Ohio River.

Mid-West Region summarized

  • While the Mid-West is majority made of what we know as the "Great Plains". This region is also known as the "Americas Heartland" and which refers to its primary role in the nation's manufacturing and farming sectors as well as its patchwork of big commercial cities and small towns that, in combination, are considered as the broadest representation of American culture. 

  •  Prairies cover most of the states west of the Mississippi River with the exception of eastern Minnesota, the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri, and the southern tip of Illinois.

Mid West Region Summarized.

  • The Mid West Region is fairly cold and dry during the winter The further north you go in the midwest the colder it becomes.

  • In the summer it is warm and humid. More rain during the summer due to thunderstorms. The northern part of this region still averages out to be mostly sunny with less humidity.

  • The nights during the summer are cool up North and mild down south.
