The Writing Process
Students will understand that planning, revising, editing, and publishing are needed to create a good story.

Rough Draft
The draft is to put what you completed during the rewriting process into your own sentences. It is not your final project and mistakes are allowed.

Revision
Check for a series of events
Are all of your sentences complete?
Do your details support the specific topic sentence of the paragraph?
Check to see if you are using different types of words and not repeating verbs.
Look up synonyms of a word if you use it too much
Have a fun introduction

Time to Edit
Grammar- use words to combine sentences
Capitalization- Make sure titles, names, and the Beginning of sentences have uppercase letters.
Spelling- Use a dictionary
Punctuation- Use appropriate commas and periods.
Sentence structure- Be sure that each sentence has two parts, including a who or what, and then what is happening.

My Short Story Example- What needs to be revised and edited?
On one sunny afternoon my father took our family to an amusement park. I love riding rides. i am excited to have fun all day long. We went to go on the swaying dragon because it is my favorite. My brother was way to scared to ride it I held his hand. Once we got as high as the rollercoaster could go I put my hands in the air and screamed. We ate alot of funnel cakes and hotdogs that day. It was one of the best days ever.
As a class, we will revise this paragraph the proper way.

Once you have gone through all of the correct steps you will write your final draft on paper and then type it in a google doc and print it out.
