The Renaissance mean "rebirth"
A rebirth of interest in education and the arts
Scholars renewed interest in the classical ideas of Ancient Greece and Rome
People from this time switched from a religious to a secular (worldly) perspective on life

During the Middle Ages, European society was focused on religion and the Catholic Church was the most important political force
During the Renaissance, people were most on secular ideas
