2

Infinitive to conjugated

  • The infinitive can only be used when you want to say "to _____"

  • In order to say anything where there is a subject pronoun, you must conjugate the infinitive.

  • For example, to say "I study" in Spanish, you cannot say "yo estudiar".

3

Conjugation charts

Noun phrases

Often there is a noun phrase used as the subject of a sentence instead of a subject pronoun. It may be a person's name or a more general noun like "boys". When this is the case, think of which subject pronoun would replace the noun in order to determine the verb ending to use.

16

Examples:

  • Mi amigo = él

  • Tu prima = ella

  • Nuestras hijas = ellas

  • Los estudiantes = ellos

Additional phrases

These phrases can be a little trickier, but follow a pattern:

Tú y yo/ Mi hija y yo/ Juan y yo

**Anything followed by " y yo" = NOSOTROS/NOSOTRAS**

Tú y tus amigos/ Paco y tú

Rebeca y usted/ Usted y su esposo

**Anything with "tú" or "usted" in the phrase = USTEDES**
