Verbs & Tense

• Verb is an action word: run, throw, speak, drive, etc

• Tense describes the time that verb took place.

• For example, verbs have 3 tenses: past, present, & future

Verb Tense

• You can tell a verb's tense by looking at different parts of the word.

• Past: Ends in "-ed" or starts in "re-"

• Example: I finished my classwork.

• Example: I retried the quiz & got a 100%!

Present Verb Tense

• Talks about what is happening right now.

Future Verb Tense

• Talks about what will/could happen.

• ALWAYS has a modal verb like "will" "might" "should"

• Modal verb + original word = future

• Example: I will earn an A in this class.

• Example: I might change my mind.
