Percents

• Percents are out of 100

• 1/4% = 1/4 / 100 (1/4 of one box out of 100 shaded)

• 5% = 5/100 (5 boxes out of 100 shaded)

• 48% = 48/100 (48 boxes out of 100 shaded)

• 350% = 350/100 (3 WHOLE 10x10 grids shaded and 50 of a fourth)

Decimals

• Tenths

• Hundredths

• Thousandths

• Etc.

• 5/10 = 0.5 Read as "Five tenths"

• 5/100 = 0.05 Read as "Five hundredths"

• 5/1000 = 0.005 Read as "Five thousandths"

Fractions

• Numerator on top

• Denominator on bottom

• Fraction bar indicates DIVISION

• 3/8 is 3 divided by 8

• The numerator is your dividend (goes on the inside for long division)

• The denominator is the divisor (goes on the outside for long division)
