Looking for equation

1. think about how you would 3 x 6 = 18 out loud
three times six is eighteen
We can eliminate choices that do not sound like that.
a. 6 more than 3 means adding
b. 6 times as many as 3 means multiplying
c. 3 less than 6 means subtracting
d. 6 divided by 3 means dividing

Looking for equation

The digit in the 10,000 place is a 5 and the digit in the 10 place is a 5.

Think about the numbers written in expanded form: 50,000 and 50

We can eliminate answers a and b because they don't even have a 5 in the equation.

The correct answer is C because both sides of the equation are equal to each other and the numbers match Sean's number.

Fractions

Finding Equivalent Fractions:
find the first picture fraction: 26\frac{2}{6}

Then find the correct picture that matches.
It looks like all the choices are divided into 12 pieces, so I know that if  2 ×2=46×2=12\frac{2\ \times2=4}{6\times2=12}  then I need to look for  412\frac{4}{12}

Gallon Kingdom

“Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Gallon there were 4 Queens. Each Queen had a Prince and a Princess. Each Prince and Princess had 2 Cats."

Queen= Quarts

Prince=Pints

Cats=Cups

Measurement

Look back at your Gallon Kingdom

How many prince/princess did 1 Queen have?

Lines

Pay close attention to the question,

it says "On which figure is this impossible?" IMPOSSIBLE!

That means it is possible to draw a line on each picture and only intersect in ONE place except for one.... which is B because those lines are parallel.

Find equations

With these, instead of looking at all the answer choices, I like to read the problem and write my own equation and then find the correct answer.

twice as many tells me multiplying by 2
Samantha bought x2 as many as Nathan
so _____ x 2 = 6 with the ____ being Nathan's postcards or p
__x 2 = 6 is the same as 6  ÷\div  2 = __

Comparing

Remember to use the largest place value to compare and the < will open towards the bigger number

Compare Fractions

write the fraction for both 48             14\frac{4}{8}\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{1}{4}

We need both fractions to have the same denominator to compare:
 1          x2=  24          x2=  8\frac{1\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x2=\ \ 2}{4\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x2=\ \ 8}

Now we can compare
