What is IMRad Format?

• IMRaD stands for Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion which are the main parts of the scientific paper

• This is a type of scientific writing that is useful for educating and recording knowledge about a research process and their findings

What does the INTRODUCTION section of the paper contain?

• It sets the tone and provides the overview of the paper

• Supply the reader with the background information and rationale behind the scientific work

• It states the purpose of the scientific paper

• It presents the hypothesis or research questions that guided the research work

What does the METHODS section of the paper contain?

• This contains the account of the research process that was undertaken by the author to produce the results

• It includes the research design used, the procedure, materials and process on how the data is collected

• Sufficient information about the process should be included so that the readers can be able to reproduce the work or research conducted

What does the RESULTS section of the paper contain?

• This provides the summary of the methods and experiments conducted by the researcher as well as the data collected

• Organize the presentation of the data to be presented

• Use figures, tables, charts, and graphs to illustrate the collected data

What does the DISCUSSION section of the paper contain?

• This will show the relationship between the data collected and the research questions

• It explains the principles, relationships, and generalization gathered from the research study

• Clearly state and summarize the conclusion of the research

• Give the limitations or areas that are not covered by the research

• Give the significance or importance of the scientific work
