How to add Fraction

Fractions represent equal parts of a whole or a collection. 

Fraction of a whole: When we divide a whole into equal parts, each part is a fraction of the whole.

Exp. $\frac{5}{6}\ +\ \frac{3}{6}=$    $\frac{5+3}{6}=\frac{8}{6}$  

1.  $\frac{4}{8}\ +\ \frac{6}{8}=$     $\frac{4+6}{8}=\frac{10}{8}$  

2. $\frac{19}{23}\ +\ \frac{14}{23}\ =$    $\frac{19+14}{23}=\frac{33}{23}$  

3.  $\frac{5}{14}\ +\ \frac{11}{14}\ =$    $\frac{5+11}{14}=\frac{16}{14}$  

4.  $\frac{35}{60}\ +\ \frac{24}{60}\ =$    $\frac{35\ +\ 24}{60}\ =\frac{59}{60}$  

How to add unlike fraction

Exp.  $\frac{3}{6}\ +\ \frac{23}{30}\ =$     $\frac{3\ \times\ 5}{6\ \times\ 5}\ +\ \frac{23}{30}\ =\ \frac{15}{30}\ +\ \frac{23}{30}\ =\frac{15\ +\ 23}{30}\ =\ \frac{38}{30}$  

1.   $\frac{7}{15}\ +\ \frac{1}{3}\ =$     $\frac{7}{15}\ +\ \frac{1\ \times\ 5}{3\ \times\ 5}\ =\ \frac{7}{15}\ +\ \frac{5}{15}\ =\frac{7\ +\ 5}{15}\ =\ \frac{12}{15}$  

2.   $\frac{34}{81}\ +\ \frac{3}{9}\ =$     $\frac{34}{81}\ +\ \frac{3\ \times\ 9}{9\ \times\ 9}\ =\ \frac{34}{81}\ \ +\ \frac{27}{81}\ =\ \frac{27\ +\ 54}{81}\ =\ \frac{81}{81}\$  

3.  $\frac{45}{50}\ +\ \frac{6}{10}\ =$     $\frac{45}{50}\ +\ \frac{1\ \times\ 5}{10\ \times\ 5}\ =\ \frac{45}{50}\ +\ \frac{5}{50}\ =\ \frac{45\ +\ 5}{50}\ =\ \frac{50}{50}$
