We use still to talk about situations continuing.

(Still usually goes with the verb)

  • She's still asleep.

  • Do you still love me?

  • I still don't understand.

3

We use yet to ask if something expected has happened, or to say that it hasn't.

(Yet usually goes at the end of the sentence)

  • Has the postman come yet?

  • Alice hasn't phoned yet.

4

We use already to say something happened earlier than expected, or earlier than someone thought.

(Already usually goes with the verb)

  • "When's your mother coming?" "She's already here."

  • "You must go to Scotland." "We've already been."

  • She's only been here a week, and she already knows all the neighbors.
