I want you to know that while the STAAR test is very important, there are many things that the test doesn’t measure! It doesn’t measure your:
Creativity
Morals
Self-Esteem, Effort
Faith, Intelligence
Compassion and so much more!

If you don't know an answer to a question, you should...

Read over the problem without making any notes. Read any charts carefully!
Then read the problem again and do the CUBES strategy!

E: Eliminate any information you don’t need
S: Solve by showing your work

Don’t forget about TIPS!
T: Think about the question. Rewrite it as a statement!
Example: How many peaches did Sally pick? Sally picked __ peaches. When you finish the problem make sure your answer answers the question.
I: Information. What information does the problem give us? Write it down!
P: Plan. Draw a strip diagram, draw a picture, draw equal groups, or another strategy of your choice.
S: Solve. Finally, solve the problem, and check to make sure you completed all the steps. Don’t forget to make sure your answer correctly answers the question.
