AutoCAD Drawing and AutoCAD interchange file (DWG and DXP)

AutoCAD drawing is the standard file format for saving vector graphics created in AutoCAD. In saving vector graphics created in AutoCAD the standard file format in AutoCAD drawing was AutoCAD. AutoCAD interchange file is a drawing interchange format for exporting AutoCAD drawings to or importing drawings from other applications.

BMP (Bitmap)

Specifying a color model resolution and anti-alias setting for rasterizing the artwork, (windows or OS/2) and a little complexity to determine the total number of colors (or shades gray) that the image can cover.


For 4-bit and 8-bit images using Windows format, you can also specify RLE compression.

EMF format is extensively used by windows application as they interchange format for exporting vector graphics data. The illustrator might rasterize some vector data while exporting artwork to EMF

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

JPEG is commonly used to save photographs.It is a standard format for displaying images over the web. 

Saving images as a JPEG file using the save for web and devices command is one way of saving an image. Take note that artifacts such as wave-like patterns or blocky areas of banding, are added to a file each time you save the file as a JPEG. Always save JPEG files from the original images not from a previously saved JPEG.

SWF file can be for saving web and devices command, exporting text as Flash Dynamic or input text in addition in exporting artwork in flash format. It can also be used in copying illustrator artwork and pasting it into flash.

Photoshop (PSD) 

Photoshop format artwork contains data that cannot be exported to Photoshop format, illustrator preserves the appearance of the artwork by means of merging the layers in the document or by rasterizing the artwork.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) 

PNG supports 24-bit images and procedures background transparency. However, some web browsers might not support PNG images.

PNG preserves transparency in grayscale and RGB images. For more information, see PNG export options. You can also save an image as a PNG file using the Save For Web and Devices Command.
