• There are three states of matter in our surroundings.

• Solid State

• Liquid state

• Gaseous State

Solid State

• Particles have definite shape and volume

• Particles have least interparticle space and very high inter particle force of attraction

• They have high density and negligible compression

Liquid State

• Particles have definite volume but no definite shape

• Particles have low interparticle space and moderate inter particle force of attraction

• They have low density and slightly compressible

Gaseous State

• Particles have no definite volume and no definite shape.

• Particles have high interparticle space and least/negligible inter particle force of attraction.

• They have least density and highly compressible.

• Gases are highly diffusible
