What does "Renaissance" means?

3

Accoding to Poplawski (2008): The English Renaissance was a period of enormous transition. England could be seen as a rather marginal European kingdom ruled by semi-feudal political relationships. There were wide-sweeping religious, political, and economic changes. Writers of this period were concerned with the radically changing cultural landscape while simultaneously aiming to incursionating into challenging and new directions in their works.
