Then based on your stated GOAL just now, how will you achieve it (OBJECTIVES)?
4
Example of Goals & Objectives
5
Writing both goals and objectives makes it easier for the funding organisation to understand the benefits and the outcomes of the proposed community project.
Why are both Goal & Objective important elements in Proposal?
6
So what are Goals and Objectives?
How to write them?
7
Goals?
Goals are what you wish to accomplish but usually they aren’t measurable.
Note:
It's easy to write Goals because you don't have to be too specific!
8
Goals
large statements of what you hope to accomplish.
NOT very measurable (intangible) (example of words: efficient, effective, fun, exciting, raise, spend, cover, and etc.)
create the setting for what you are proposing.
9
Example of Goals
To organise an array of special and fun activities.
To raise funds for handicapped children in Kuala Selangor.
To raise participants' self-esteem in presentation.
10
Objectives?
Objectives are operational, tell specific things you will be accomplishing in your project and are very measurable.
Note:
Objectives MUST REFLECT the goals and MUST be MEASURABLE!
11
Examples of key words of Objectives
buy two vending machines,
hire one helper
give three talks on 3R by one speaker from...
set up 50 booths for...
12
13
Goals can be intangible and non-measurable, but
objectives are defined in terms of tangible targets.
For example:
the goal to “provide excellent customer service” is intangible, but
the objective to “reduce customer wait time to one minute” is tangible and helps in achieving the main goal
14
Consider this:
Goal:
I want to eat lunch today.
Objectives:
I will order ONE plate of nasi campur with ONE chicken rendang and THREE side dishes. I will order TWO glasses of water to go with the main dish.
15
Goal: I want to eat lunch today.
Objectives:
I will order ONE plate of nasi campur with ONE chicken rendang and THREE side dishes. I will order TWO glasses of water to go with the main dish.
This means, you can write any goal, but the objective is on HOW will you accomplish it? And you need to provide CLEAR, MEASURABLE and DETAILED information on how will you achieve your stated goal.
16
Remember your GOAL in UMT that you have shared earlier?
Do you understand how to write OBJECTIVES to your goal now?
