There is e there are possuem o mesmo significado: o do verbo “haver” em português. Você pode utilizá-las para indicar a existência de objetos, pessoas e conceitos.

Exemplos

Side note

Perceba que, no português, utilizamos palavras como “existe” e “tem”, que também podem ser traduzidas como there is e there are.
