Method 1: The easiest one.

Method 2: The most used. 

• You have to halve the clock.

• O’clock must be used to tell the exact hour

• In the right side, it means from one (1) to twenty-nine ( 29) use the expression PAST. Here you mention the hour in which you are and the minutes that have passed.

Method 2: The most used. 

• Half past must be used to tell it is the half of hour.

• In the left side, it means from twenty-nine (29) to one (1) use the expression TO. Here you have to mention how many minutes are missing to get to the next o’clock.

• You can use QUARTER to indicate the clock has moved the first quarter of its face or when it is in the last one.  

Examples:

Say "it is" or " it's" to indicate the time.

2:05: It's five past two

2:20: It’s twenty past two

3:00: it’s three o’clock

4:15: it’s quarter past four

5:30: it’s half past five

8:45: it’s quarter to nine  

9:35: it’s twenty-five to ten

11:50: it’s ten to twelve
