What is a prefix?

A word, letter, or number placed before another word.

We call this word the root word.

Prefix + Root =New word

dis - not e.g: like - dislike = not like

un - not e.g: happy - unhappy = not happy

pre - before e.g: historic - prehistoric = before history

de - remove e.g: value - devalue = remove value
