Fast, Hard, Late, Early, Daily, Weekly

Vừa là tính từ, vừa là trạng từ.

Tom was late. (Tính từ)

Tom came late. (Trạng từ)

It's a weekly paper. (Tính từ)

We buy it weekly. (Trạng từ)

Hardly, Lately vs.

Hard, Late

Hardly: hầu như không (almost not)

I've hardly got any clean clothes left.

Lately: gần đây (recently)

I haven't been to the cinema lately.

Well vs. Good

Well (trạng từ) có nghĩa là tốt.

Good (tính từ) cũng có nghĩa là tốt.

Không tồn tại từ Goodly.

He's a good worker. (Tính từ)

He works well. (Trạng từ)

Well (tính từ) có nghĩa là khoẻ.

How are you? Very well, thank you.

Friendly, lively, lonely, ugly, likely, silly

Dù tận cùng bằng -ly nhưng đều là tính từ.

Our neighbors are friendly.

I often feel lonely.

Your bedroom looks very lovely.

It's a silly thing to say so.

Không tồn tại friendlily

Nếu muốn diễn tả ý này để bổ nghĩa cho động từ, phải dùng cách khác.

She spoke in a friendly way.

He acted in a silly manner.

Không tồn tại fastly

Nếu muốn diễn tả ý này để bổ nghĩa cho động từ, phải dùng:

fast (vừa là tính từ vừa là trạng từ)

hoặc quickly (trạng từ)

We'll have to walk fast to get there on time.

Quickly now, you two, daddy's waiting in the car!
