SHORT ANSWERS WITH SO AND NEITHER

In English, we can use the words so, neither, too and either to say that what is true for some person is also true for us. 

The word so shows agreement with positive statements.

The word neither shows agreement with negative statements. 

VERB BE

When we have the verb be in the simple present if we need to agree we use:

- So am I.

If we need to disagree we use:

- I don't.

To agree with a positive statement

We use so + auxiliary/modal verb + pronoun:

- "I like tea without sugar.'

'So do I.'

To agree with a negative statement

We use nor/neither + auxiliary/modal verb + pronoun:

- "I don't like tea with sugar.'

'Nor do I.' or 'Neither do I.'

To disagree with a positive statement

We use pronoun + auxiliary/modal verb + not (-n't):

- "I like tea without sugar.'

'I don't.'

To disagree with a negative statement

We use pronoun + auxiliary/modal verb:

"I don't like tea with sugar.'

'I do.

You can use it in different tenses:

- I went to the park yesterday.

- I have been to Spain 3 times
