Weathering and Erosion
by Cecelia Cortes
2
The geologic features on the surface of Earth are products of external and internal processes. It will take thousands or millions of years before one sedimentary rock can be formed. It also takes around 100 years to form 1 inch of the topsoil. With this, we can say that time and environment play a very important role in shaping the surface of Earth. Weathering and Erosion are two of the most important external processes on Earth. They are considered as the most fundamental among the external processes.
In the next slides, you will be asked to answer questions relevant to weathering and erosion.

Open Ended
After weathering and erosion, sediments are particles are then deposited in an area. What caused this to happen?
16
Open Ended
Human activities hasten the rate of weathering, erosion, and deposition. What is the effect of too much weathering and erosion?
17
Open Ended
The presence of chemicals during weathering and erosion affect the quality of sediments as the result of human activities. Do you think this will also affect the quality of soil? What is the implication of this to agriculture and economy?
