​Kinematics describes the motion of objects, what causes the motion is Dynamics. These are two branches of the overall study of Mechanics.

​Motion from one place to another is Translational Motion. An airplane uses translational motion.

​Motion that spins around in one place is Rotational Motion. A windmill uses rotational motion.
