Pronombres Review

These are the subject pronouns in Spanish

  • Yo (I)

  • Tú (You informal)

  • Usted (You formal)

  • Él (He)

  • Ella (She)

  • Nosotros (We)

  • Ustedes (Y'all)

  • Ellos/Ellas (They)

Unlike English, you can leave out the pronouns when conjugating verbs. Pronouns are often left out because each pronoun has its own verb conjugation.

Present Tense Ser

The Verb "Ser" means "to be."

We use the verb "ser" to talk about defining characteristics.

Por ejemplo: Ella es buena (She is a good person). Él es enfermo (He is a sickly person.)

Not to be confused with "estar" which we use to talk about conditions.

Por ejemplo: Ella está bien (She is feeling good.) Él está enfermo (He is sick.)

We also use "ser" to talk about time; while we use "estar" for locations.
