This type of text has as its central figure a character endowed with extraordinary qualities, there is often the presence of supernatural forces that configure the action and there is description of battles and great combats.

In general, the compositions of the epic genre are extensive and are structured in parts called songs, chansons and rhapsodies. Songs and chansons are part of the epic poem and the virtues of a historical or legendary character are highlighted to extol his figure. The rhapsody is the segment of an epic poem that is recited independently of the whole of the work. In this type of texts, times, customs, feelings and beliefs of the peoples are described.
