Synthetic division...

  • Why? 

  • First: Calculate the root (=zero) by setting the divisor equal to zero

    Second: List all the coefficients of the dividend, making sure to replace missing ones with a 0

    Third: Bring down the first coefficient

    Fourth: Multiply the coefficient by the root

  • Five: Add the product to the next coefficient and repeat steps four and five.
