• ​the process by which early humans developed their way of life as a result of their adaptation to the changes in their environment.

• ​this is reflected in their tools, settlements and livelihood.

​Two broad cultures of Cultural Evolution

Paleolithic Period

​- the Old Stone Age

​- humans depended largely on their environment

​- rough stone tools

​- fire was discovered

​- humans were nomadic

​Neolithic Period

​- the New Stone Age

​-improved tools

​-beginnings of agriculture

​Neolithic Revolution & Urban Revolution

​Neolithic Revolution

- the agricultural revolution

​- when man learned how to plant and domesticate animals

​Urban Revolution

​- when man learned to build permanent settlements

​

​These two revolutions are important stages in history as they bridged the prehistoric and historic periods.
