​Cartographers pay attention to represent the distance between two places. to find the actual distance between two places they use suitable scale

​Small scale maps are used to show a very large area with fewer detail.

​Large scale maps used to show a very small area with greater details.

​We see an upward arrow and the letter ( N) . This shows the north direction. so we can easily find the other directions.

​It is a model of the Earth and has certain limitations.

​When do we use a globe ?

​when we need to have an overall view of the whole Earth. A globe does not show details of country or a state because it is difficult to carry.

​What is a map ?

​A map is a representation or drawing of the Earth 's surface or a part of it drawn on a flat surface according to scale.

​Maps are easy to understand because they drawn according to scale.

​Who is cartographer ?

​Specially trained people draw maps are called cartographer.

​Physical map is also called a relief map. This type helps in planning cities and colonies , buildings roads and dams and establishing railway lines.

​Political maps help in the study of different types of cultural historical and economical activities.
