​Abstract vs. Concrete Nouns

​Abstract nouns are concepts or ideas that a person cannot see, hear, touch, taste, or smell. They tend to have the following suffixes: -tion, -ism, -ity, -ance, -ship, -ability, -acy, Ex: liberty, patriotism, reality

​Concrete nouns are nouns that you can feel, touch, smell, hear, and see (five senses). Ex: actor, chicken, cucumber, brick, mountain

​Count Nouns- a noun that can form a plural and, in the singular, can be used with the indefinite article (a, an). Ex: dog, the dog

​Noncount Nouns- are nouns that we cannot count with numbers. They have no plural form. Ex: bread, cheese, milk
