Which of these is the same form of energy as light?
radio waves
sound waves
electricity
potential energy
9
Poll
Which of these is NOT a type of electromagnetic radiation that comes from the sun?
visible light
infrared light
ultraviolet radiation
sound energy
10
Open Ended
Three students are arguing about the reason that an apple appears red. Student A claims that it is because an apple absorbs the color red and reflects all other colors away from it. Student B claims that it is because an apple absorbs every other color of light and only the red is reflected. Student C argues that an apple gives off its own rays of red light. With which student do you agree and WHY???

Reflection of Light = Color
Three students are arguing about the reason that an apple appears red. Student A claims that it is because an apple absorbs the color red and reflects all other colors away from it. Student B claims that it is because an apple absorbs every other color of light and only the red is reflected. Student C argues that an apple gives off its own rays of red light. With which student do you agree and WHY???
Student B is correct because an object absorbs all other colors EXCEPT the one that you SEE.

Poll
Which color in the visible spectrum has the most energy?
red
green
yellow
violet
18
Poll
What is the longest wavelength of the visible spectrum?
violet
orange
green
red
19
Visible light spectrum range is 700nm to 400nm.
Red is the least powerful because the wavelengths are further apart.
Violet is the most powerful because the wavelengths are closer together.
20
The wavelength of the color red is about 700nm.
Longer wavelength = less frequency = lower power
The wavelength of the color VIOLET is about 400nm.
Shorter wavelength = more frequency = more power

Visible Spectrum and Color
The seven colors of visible light are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Their order is often remembered by the mnemonic Roy G. Biv, and the order of the colors actually does matter!
Visible light is a spectrum. The frequency of the wave determines the the color, with red having the lowest frequency and violet having the highest frequency.
Therefore, RED has less power than VIOLET
