What is an inference?
An inference is when you take clues from the text and what you already know to draw a conclusion.

Inferences require you to read between the lines
Inferences are NOT directly stated in the text. You must think deeper to understand what is going on.
6
Example

7
Inferences are NOT Predictions
When we PREDICT we are FORTUNE TELLERS looking at what will come next. When we INFER we are DETECTIVES that look at the details and read between the lines for information.
