MAINTAIN COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS
Computer Maintenance
Computer maintenance involves keeping a computer in a good state of repair and physical health. Meaning, it is set of maintenance tasks and procedures that help to keep the computer software and hardware updated and operational. It includes reviewing the computer’s performance, ensuring that automated system monitoring utilities are properly installed and configured, identifying potential security risks, and backing up data at regular intervals. The maintenance procedure is part of a wider policy which defines what, how, and when the required changes can occur.

COMPUTER MAINTENANCE
1. Disk Cleanup It allows users to remove files that are no longer needed or that can be safely deleted. Removing unnecessary files, including temporary files, helps speed up and improve the performance of the hard drive and computer. Running Disk Cleanup at least once a month is an excellent maintenance task and frequency
2. Disk error checking It performs a scan on your hard disk, usually after an improper shutdown. It verifies the logical integrity of your hard drive. If it finds any logical inconsistencies in file system data, disk error checking performs actions that repair the file system data.
3. Dusting the internal and external part of the computer Cleaning your computer, components, and peripherals help keep everything in good working condition, helps prevent germs from spreading, and helps allow proper air flow. Preventing failure means making sure your computer is physically clean in its operations. Make sure that there is not too much dust inside, especially on the fans. Dust can reduce performance and cause overheating.

What are the three Computer Maintenance:
11
File maintenance
Perhaps you have handpicked the finest computer with the selected fastest processor and graphic card and with a few gigabytes of memory. So you thought to yourself that your machine is probably going to sustain you for the next five (5) years. But little did you discover that some six months down the road, your computer is behaving like a Pentium 2 computer, perpetually flustering you with its choppy images, frustrating pop-ups and tremendously slow disk access. Gradually, your computer crashes and all your data is lost on one fine afternoon.
12
File maintenance
One thing you have probably missed out is the need for system maintenance.
The basic routine maintenance comprises of the 3 basic processes:
1. Data Backup
2. Malware Maintenance
3. Disk Maintenance

1. Data backup
Backing up basically means creating a copy of a data so that in case anything happens to the original data, you have a spare copy.
2. Malware Maintenance
Malware refers to any kind of malicious codes, objects or content that infiltrates your computer, resulting in damage and causing your system to act in an undesirable manner. Commonly, these include viruses, spyware, worms, trojan horses, spams and many more. When you are infected, you can lose your privacy, confidential data and access to your system when software and hardware are damaged.
3. Disk maintenance
Computer cleanup is the one thing you can do every day that will keep you flush with disk space and help you free up valuable system resources. Furthermore, actual physical cleanup, as in dusting, will allow your computer to literally breathe easier, and in turn prolong the life of your system.
