​What does "detect" mean?

​I watched carefully to see if I could detect any movement.

​What does "pedestrian" mean?

A car must stop if there is a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

​What does "inquisitive" mean?

​The students are very inquisitive and always have lots of questions for the teacher.

​What does "absurd" mean?

It would be absurd to wear a coat when the temperature is over 100 degrees!

​What does "numberous" mean?

There are numerous books in the library that I want to read.
