​What are adverbs?

• In English, adverbs modify (describe) verbs. They help us tell when, where, how, how long, or how much an action (verb) is done.

• The same definition applies to adverbs in Spanish.​

Adverbs of manner:​

An adverb of manner describes how you do an action. For example,

• They dress elegantly.

• Some elderly people drive slowly.

• ​John plays the trombone beautifully.

​How to create an adverb of manner

​To make adverbs of manner, we usually add -ly to the adjective. For example,

• quick – quickly

• bad – badly

• quick – quickly
