Photosynthesis
Plants make the food they need through a process called photosynthesis. The process begins when the chlorophyll inside plant's cell structures called chloroplasts absorbs light energy, usually from the sun. At the same time, carbon dioxide enters the plant throught its stomata in the leaves, and its roots absorb water from the soil.

Multiple Choice
The process begins when chlorophyll traps __________?
sugar
light energy
oxygen
carbon dioxide

6
Multiple Choice
Chlorophyll traps light energy to make?
dirt
metal
food
iron
7
Photosynthesis Part 2
The water, carbon dioxide, and light combine in the leaves to make sugar, which the plant uses to grow. Any sugar the plant doesn't need right away is stored as starch in the roots. Then the plants release oxygen and water vapor through their leaves.
8
Multiple Choice
What do plants release (outputs) through their leaves?
carbon dioxide and sugar
