Substitution Method

2

A system of equations is two or more equations with the same variables.

One method to solve a system of equations is called the substitution method.

3

media

Since y = x - 4, we can substitute x - 4 into the other equation for y.

Then it is easy to solve for x. Once you have the x value of 7, substitute that into either original equation to solve for y. The final answer is x = 7 and y = 3.
