Civil Disobedience

In order to gain attention for the right to vote, women participated in many different forms of Civil Disobedience. They gathered in Washington D.C., in front of the White House, and picketed the President, the first time a picket was ever used in the U.S. They also walked in parades, put on pageants, and got arrested for their efforts. While they were in jail, they refused the meals that were given to them, eventually being force fed these meals. The news got out about this and the women's suffrage movement gained even more traction.
