PRESENT CONTINUOUS​

• ​i verbi che terminano con una consonante preceduta da una sola vocale raddoppiano la consonante finale se sono monosillabi:

  • stop -->stopping

• i verbi che terminano in –ic aggiungonok + -ing:

  • panic --> panicking

• i verbi che terminano in-ie trasformano la -ie in y:

  • lie --> lying​

• I verbi che terminano in -y la mantengono.

  • I am studying

​variazioni ortografiche quando si aggiunge -ing alla forma base del verbo:

• nei verbi che terminano in -e muta la vocale finale cade:

  • write --> writing

• se invece la -e viene pronunciata non cade:

  • agree --> agreeing
