​balanced diet: a diet that contains a​ll the nutrients in the correct amount

​alimentary canal: this is the aprt of the digestive system through which food passes

​Unlike plants, animals can't make their own food. So they need to consume other organisms.

​What food an animal eats is called its diet. When a diet contains all the 7 nutrients in the correct amounts and proportions it's called a balanced diet. When food is digested it goes through the alimentary canal (this is the part of the digestive system through which food passes).

​The 7 nutrients are:
