2

Objective:

To recognize congruent triangles and their corresponding parts.

3

New Term:

Congruent Triangles:

Triangles with the same size and shape are congruent.

This means that all the corresponding parts (sides and angles) are congruent.

("Corresponding parts"? Put your fingertips together. Your corresponding fingers are touching. Thumb to thumb, ring finger to ring finger, so forth)

6

CPCTC

This works in the opposite direction as well. If we know two triangles are congruent, that means that all their pairs of corresponding parts are congruent. We use the abbreviation CPCTC:

Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent

7

Open Ended

Given the congruency statement ΔJKLΔPQR\Delta JKL\cong\Delta PQR  list all pairs of congruent sides and angles on your fillable notes.

8

Multiple Choice

Given the congruency statement ΔWXYΔEFG\Delta WXY\cong\Delta EFG  what is another valid congruency statement?

1

ΔYWXΔGEF\Delta YWX\cong\Delta GEF

2

ΔXYWΔFGE\Delta XYW\cong\Delta FGE

3

ΔWYXΔEGF\Delta WYX\cong\Delta EGF

4

All are valid congruency statements for this pair of triangles.

9

Take the next 10 minutes to complete #3, 4, and 5 on your fillable notes.
