The Indus River valley of northern India was home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
Indus settlements along the river grew into well-planned cities with organized governments. Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro were the first cities.
Houses that were built with standardized bricks and featured complex plumbing systems show how advanced the Indus were. Artisans created pottery, as well as clothes made from cotton.
The mysterious decline of the thriving Indus civilization is attributed to earthquakes, floods, invaders, or a combination of events.
