Latin is an inflected language

  1. Latin depends on word endings;

  2. the ending of the word shows its function (morphology);

  3. you need to know a word's function in order to read Latin;

  4. ​so you need to know your word endings;

    1. ​and your stems too!

nouns have 2 principal parts and gender

  1. the 1st principal part is the nominative (subject);

  2. the 2nd principal part is the genitive (possession);

  3. ​the gender is given and you should memorize it!

  4. some nouns are similiar in form;

  5. these are BLOCK 1 nouns;

  6. ​BLOCK 1 nouns have 3 genders;

    1. masculine nouns and adjectives;

    2. feminine nouns and adjectives;

    3. neuter nouns and adjectives;

feminine nouns -a
